  • The goal of the trade cooperation plan, according to Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and his Iranian counterpart Hussain Amir Abdullahiyan, is to finalize the free trade agreement, remove barriers to international trade, and establish institutional links between the private sectors of the two countries.
  • Following their meeting and delegation-level discussions, the foreign minister informed the media that the five-year plan would span from 2023 to 2028. According to him, they decided during their meeting that by the end of 2024, operationalizing the other five frontier markets would take precedence.
  • The Iranian Foreign Minister placed a strong emphasis on expanding bilateral cooperation in trade, tourism, and the economy in his remarks. According to him, the two nations have decided to create a special economic free trade zone at their shared borders and are dedicated to growing their bilateral trade to $5 billion.
  • Abdullahiyan emphasized that the construction of the gas pipeline between Iran and Pakistan is important since it will benefit both nations’ national interests.
